Cheer Power Southern Nationals - San Antonio, TX

I don't even know how to put into words how exciting this past weekend was for our cheer gym.  We had 4 of our teams get 1st place at the Cheer Power Southern Nationals!!!

We started the weekend off on Wednesday night at the gym where we had a pep rally style practice.  All of our teams got together & performed for each other, cheered each other on & got each other pumped up for our big weekend in San Antonio.  I love seeing how excited they get watching their other friends & teammates perform!

San Antonio is always a fun travel trip for Cheer.  There's so much to do right within walking distance, but hotel time is always the most fun!  The kids did get some warnings from the hotel staff to get off the stone walls, stop running up/down the stairs, etc but nothing too bad.  (I mean, what's the point of having multi-level stone walls that surround little ponds if you don't want kids walking on them, almost falling in?  I mean, really?!?!) ;-)  While our hooligans were running around showing how awesome our parenting skills are, we parents sat in the lobby drinking...I mean bonding. :-)

Friday morning, we got ready & enjoyed our complimentary breakfast at the Embassy Suites.  After we stuffed our bellies, a few of us ventured out on the town!  Our girls didn't have to meet at the Alamodome until 2pm so we had a few hours to enjoy the gorgeous day!

Friday night after the girls performed, the majority of our team went out to dinner together.  We were lucky enough to go early enough to get a table for 30 people out on the Riverwalk.  After walking back to the hotel after dinner, more of our Rockstar Teams had arrived & the complimentary Happy Hour at the Embassy was in full swing, so we enjoyed that for a while.  We headed for bed at 8:30pm because our meet up time for Saturday morning was gonna be 6am!  Have you ever had to wake a cheerleader at 4:30am to put on fake eyelashes, full makeup & tease her ponytail?  It's really fun, you should all try it! ;-)

Surprisingly, once we made it downstairs on day 2 everyone was in good spirits & were ready to take on the mat!  Here are some shots of Izzy in action from both days...
